Inverting Conditional Opinions in Subjective Logic

چکیده

Subjective Logic has operators for conditional deduction and conditional abduction where subjective opinions are input arguments. With these operators traditional Bayesian reasoning can be generalised from taking only probabilistic arguments to also taking opinions as arguments, thereby allowing Bayesian modeling of situations affected by uncertainty and incomplete information. Conditional deduction is a Bayesian reasoning process that goes in the same direction as that of the input argument conditionals, whereas conditional abduction is a Bayesian reasoning process that goes in the direction opposite to that of the input argument conditionals. Conditional abduction is in fact a two-step process that first involves the computation of inverted conditionals, and then conditional deduction based on the inverted conditionals. This paper describes an improved generalized method for inverting opinion conditionals in order to support general Bayesian reasoning in subjective logic.

Conditional Reasoning with Subjective Logic

Conditional inference plays a central role in logical and Bayesian reasoning, and is used in a wide range of applications. It basically consists of expressing conditional relationship between parent and child propositions, and then to combine those conditionals with evidence about the parent propositions in order to infer conclusions about the child propositions. While conditional reasoning is ...

Subjective Logic Extensions for the Semantic Web

Subjective logic is a powerful probabilistic logic which is useful to handle data in case of uncertainty. Subjective logic and the Semantic Web can mutually benefit from each other, since subjective logic is useful to handle the inner noisiness of the Semantic Web data, while the Semantic Web offers a mean to obtain evidence useful for performing evidential reasoning based on subjective logic. ...

A Critical Examination of Ibn-Sina’s Theory of the Conditional Syllogism

This paper will examine Ibn Sina’s theory of the Conditional Syllogism from a purely logical point of view, and will lay bare the principles he adopted for founding his theory, and the reason why the newly introduced part of his logic remained undeveloped and eventually was removed from the texts of logic in the later Islamic tradition. As a preliminary discussion, this paper briefly examines I...

Combining Subjective Logic with DL-Lite

In sensing applications, sensors with different attributes provide their reports (i.e., subjective opinions) about real-time events. Each such opinion may have different degree of uncertainty and their sources may have different perceived trustworthiness. Subjective Logic provides a unified framework for fusing such uncertain opinions by considering trustworthiness of their sources. DL-Lite is ...
